Switch from Gong

The best Gong alternative for sales coaching is the one that acts on the call after it ends. Most comparisons rank tools by how well they record. This one ranks them by what they do next: score the call, coach the person, let them practice, and update the CRM.

If you pay for Gong, or just got a quote, that is the gap worth checking. A recording tells you what happened. It does not change what your team does on the next call.

Why teams look past Gong

Gong is a strong revenue platform. Teams leave it for four practical reasons.

  • Seat price. Gong does not publish prices. Vendr reports $1,600 to $2,400 per seat a year for small teams on the standard tier.
  • Platform fee. Gong's pricing page lists per-user licenses plus a platform fee. You pay it before you add a single person.
  • Annual contracts. Vendr reports that 60 to 70% of Gong contracts are multi-year, and the median contract is $55,359 a year.
  • Coaching stops at the recording. Scoring, practice and lessons come from Gong Enable, a coaching add-on sold on top of the Gong license.

For a 50-person team, the seat range alone is $80,000 to $120,000 a year before the platform fee and before any add-on. That is the number most readers of this post are trying to beat.

We cover the full cost breakdown on the Gong pricing page. The head-to-head is in Triple Session vs Gong.

How we picked: five criteria

We judged each tool on what happens after the call, not on recording quality. Every tool on this list records and transcribes. These five criteria separate them.

  1. Coaching. Does it tell each person what to work on, and does a manager see who needs help?
  2. Roleplay practice. Can people practice the skill out loud before the next call?
  3. Call scoring. Does it score calls against your own playbook, such as MEDDICC, SPIN or a custom scorecard?
  4. CRM sync. Does it write call data into HubSpot or Salesforce fields without manual entry?
  5. Price. Is it published, and what is the real cost for a team of 10, 25 or 50?

We read each vendor's own product and pricing pages. Where a vendor does not publish a detail, we say so.

Triple Session

Triple Session is a coaching platform. It scores each call against your scorecard, gives each person feedback, runs AI roleplay, and writes the results to your CRM.

Best for: sales, CS and account management teams that want every call scored and coached.

What it does:

  • Call scoring grades every call on your own scorecard. Templates cover MEDDICC, SPICED, BANT and Challenger, and onboarding includes building the first scorecards.
  • AI roleplay lets people practice with AI buyers by voice. Each run is scored on the same scorecard as a real call.
  • With AI Coach, a low score on a real call puts the matching roleplay and training session in that person's coaching plan, with a due date.
  • Ask AI Coach answers questions about a meeting, a deal or the team, and Global Insights asks one question across every conversation.
  • CRM updates write call data, scores and notes to HubSpot or Salesforce fields you map. You choose whether they push automatically or wait for approval.

Where it falls short: it is not a forecasting or outbound platform. If you need forecasts or sequencing in the same tool, Gong covers that and Triple Session does not.

Pricing: AI Coach is $55 per user per month. Academy Pro + AI Coach, with AI Roleplay and the training academy, is $95. Both are billed annually, with no platform fee. Onboarding is a one-time $3,000 or $5,000. A team of 10 on AI Coach pays $9,600 in year one, onboarding included. See pricing.

Chorus (by ZoomInfo)

Chorus is a conversation intelligence tool that ZoomInfo acquired in 2021. It records and transcribes phone and video calls and keeps them in a searchable library.

Best for: teams that already buy ZoomInfo data and want call recording in the same contract.

What it does well: managers can build scorecards and call libraries, and Chorus syncs with Salesforce and HubSpot. ZoomInfo enriches call participants with its contact and company data, which Triple Session does not do.

Where it falls short for coaching: the sources we read describe recording, scorecards and deal signals. We found no roleplay or practice layer. Coaching stays a manager task on top of the recording.

Pricing: not published. ZoomInfo's pages we read did not list a price, so treat it as pricing on request.

Avoma

Avoma is a meeting assistant with conversation intelligence layered on as add-ons. It is the lowest-cost route to recording plus scoring on this list, if you are careful with add-ons.

Best for: small teams that want notes, summaries and CRM saves at a low seat price.

What it does well: the Startup plan is $19 per recorder seat per month billed annually, and viewers and collaborators are free. It includes unlimited transcription and AI summaries and auto-saves notes to the CRM.

Where it falls short for coaching: the coaching pieces are add-ons. Conversation Intelligence is $29 per seat per month billed annually, and adds AI coaching recommendations, call scoring and custom scorecards such as SPICED and MEDDICC. Two-way CRM field updates are in a separate Revenue Intelligence add-on, also $29. The price grows as you add what you came for. We found no roleplay on the pricing page.

Pricing: Startup $19, Organization $29 and Enterprise $39 per seat per month billed annually, plus add-ons.

Fathom

Fathom is an AI note-taker with a free plan and a team product. It is the cheapest option here for recording and summaries.

Best for: very small teams, or teams that want to try AI notes with no spend.

What it does well: the Free plan has unlimited recordings and transcriptions with instant summaries. The Business plan adds CRM field sync, Deal View, coaching metrics and AI scorecards for $25 per user per month billed annually. Paid plans include a 90-day guarantee and a free trial.

Where it falls short for coaching: Fathom's pricing page lists coaching as metrics and scorecards. We found no practice or roleplay, and no coaching plan per person.

Pricing: Free. Team $15 and Business $25 per user per month billed annually. Enterprise on request.

Jiminny

Jiminny is a conversation intelligence platform with three plans: Capture, Scale and Grow.

Best for: sales teams that want recording and manager-led coaching, with a custom quote.

What it does well: Capture records, transcribes and summarizes every conversation. Scale is the plan tied to coaching, and there is a separate Sales Coaching page. Jiminny lists native integrations with Salesforce and HubSpot, with CRM logging and AI CRM filling. It offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card, and says there is no platform fee.

Where it falls short for coaching: the pricing page does not mention scorecards or roleplay, and does not say which coaching features each plan includes. Quotes depend on seat type (recording, insights and listener seats), with a 12-month minimum and a one-time setup fee.

Pricing: bespoke quote, no public prices.

Hyperbound

Hyperbound is the roleplay specialist on this list. If practice is your main gap, it is the closest to a pure practice tool.

Best for: enablement teams that want a deep roleplay library for new hires and want to add call scoring later.

What it does well: its Free plan includes 45 prebuilt AI roleplays and example scorecards. Practice adds buyer bot customization, reporting and custom scorecards. Perform adds real call scoring, deal coaching, and CRM features: Deal Sync and Conversation Auto-Fill with HubSpot, Salesforce and Dynamics.

Where it falls short for coaching: real call scoring and CRM sync are only in the top plan, and the plans are separate per-user licenses, so you pay for Practice and Perform separately. Both need a demo to get a price.

Pricing: Free plan. Practice and Perform on request, per user, with volume and multi-year discounts.

The coaching question is the deciding one. If a low score on a call does not lead to a practice session and a due date, the tool records. It does not coach.

How to switch without losing call history

You can switch from Gong without paying for two tools or losing the calls you care about.

  1. Check your contract end date. Gong contracts are often multi-year, so find the renewal and the notice period first.
  2. Export what you want to keep. Your recordings stay in Gong until the contract ends. Export key calls and transcripts as MP4, MP3, WAV, M4A, VTT, SRT or TXT.
  3. Import and re-score. Triple Session can review imported recordings and transcripts and score them against your new scorecards.
  4. Run both in parallel. If you switch mid-contract, your last 60 days under the Gong contract run free on Triple Session.
  5. Go live. Most teams are live in 2 to 4 weeks, with scorecards built by Triple Session specialists.

The switch page walks through the steps. If you want a single-tool comparison first, read the Gong alternative overview.

FAQ

Gong is too expensive for our 50-person sales team. What else can we use?

Start by pricing what you need. If you want coaching on every call, Triple Session publishes its pricing: $55 per user per month for AI Coach or $95 with the training academy, billed annually, with no platform fee. For recording and summaries only, Fathom and Avoma list lower prices. Gong does not publish prices, and Vendr reports $1,600 to $2,400 per seat a year for small teams, plus a platform fee.

What is the best Gong alternative for AI coaching?

It depends on what you mean by coaching. Triple Session scores every call on your scorecard, builds a coaching plan per person and adds AI roleplay. Hyperbound is focused on AI roleplay. Jiminny and Avoma add coaching features to call recording. Pick the tool that closes the loop from score to practice.

How much do Gong alternatives cost?

Prices range widely. Fathom Business is $25 per user per month billed annually. Avoma starts at $19 per recorder seat per month, and coaching features are a $29 add-on. Triple Session is $55 or $95 per user per month. Jiminny, Hyperbound and Chorus quote on request. Always add onboarding and platform fees to the seat price.

Who are the main Gong competitors?

The tools most often compared with Gong are Chorus by ZoomInfo, Avoma, Fathom, Jiminny, Hyperbound and Triple Session. Clari is also compared with Gong, but it is a forecasting platform rather than a coaching tool.

Can we run a Gong alternative while our Gong contract is still active?

Yes. Most teams run both until the Gong contract ends. If you switch mid-contract, your last 60 days under the Gong contract run free on Triple Session. Your Gong recordings stay in Gong until the contract ends, so export the ones you want to keep.

Do we lose our call history if we leave Gong?

Not if you export it first. Triple Session can review imported recordings and transcripts (MP4, MP3, WAV, M4A, VTT, SRT or TXT) and score them against your new scorecards.

Coach every call on the method your team uses.

Turn SPIN, GPCT, Challenger or your own playbook into a scorecard, and see the steps each person misses.
